AmeriCorps is a national service program that provides thousands of Americans with an opportunity to make a difference in their communities. Homes for All is the only AmeriCorps program primarily focused on housing and homelessness in Kentucky. We are looking for compassionate and enthusiastic individuals to serve as AmeriCorps members across Kentucky. Our primary focus is to address the affordable housing crisis through the development, repair, and provision of housing and homeless services. VISTA members help build the capacity of organizations to provide better and more effective services to people experiencing homelessness or housing insecurity. VISTA members make up a movement focused on social justice and economic equity. This AmeriCorps VISTA position is with Welcome House, Inc., located in Covington, Kentucky.

Responsibilities

  • Private Foundation Grant Prospecting and Writing.
  • Event Strategizing and Planning for one of Agency’s Largest Annual Events.
  • Schedule and Produce Social Media Calendars and Content.
  • Assist with Donor Recognition, Volunteer Management, and In-Kind Donation Organization.

All qualified applicants would possess the ability to write, edit, and research via online platforms and other resources. They would have a strong interest in event planning, contacting community partners via email and phone, and are knowledgeable of social media and online platforms. Organizational skills are required along with basic knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Some nights and weekends would be required. Must be able to lift at least 30 pounds.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Willingness to undergo a National Service Criminal History Check
  • At least 17 years of age at the start of service
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident of the United States
  • Commitment to serve a one year at their site; 36-40 a week

Other Information

  • The daily schedule is agreed upon between member and site supervisor
  • Some overnight travel and stays for training and service projects required
