On Aug. 8, Welcome House of Northern Kentucky welcomed Cincinnati Reds Baseball legend Joe Morgan at the ninth annual W.H.O.'s Coming to Dinner fundraising event. The event was chaired by a steering committee of the Welcome House Outreach (W.H.O.), an auxiliary group of the Welcome House of Northern Kentucky, Inc.
Cocktails opened the evening at 6:30pm with a gourmet dinner which began at 7:30 p.m., followed by the speaker, Joe Morgan. The Master of Ceremonies for the evening was meteorologist John Bateman of WLWT Channel 5 News. Morgan, who formerly played second base for the infamous Big Red Machine and who currently broadcasts for ESPN's Sunday night broadcast of Major League Baseball, shared his experience of playing with the Cincinnati Reds, personal stories of his friendship with Pete Rose and insight concerning issues facing the baseball community.
The evening concluded with auctioneer Kevin Schwab featuring one-of-a-kind items forthe live auction. The event, held at the Cincinnati Airport Marriott, was a huge success for Welcome House. Proceeds from the event went to Welcome House programs, which provide a full continuum of care for individuals who are homeless or at-risk of becoming homeless.
